Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 22, 2026

Guidevoy (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Guidevoy application and website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (managed via Clerk, our authentication provider).

Family and children's information

You voluntarily provide information about your children — names, school grades, school names, activities, and goals — to configure the app. This information is stored securely and is only accessible to you and any co-parent you explicitly invite.

Email and communications content

If you connect Gmail or forward emails to your Guidevoy forwarding address, we receive and store the content of those emails. We use this content solely to extract tasks, events, and deadlines for your family. Email content is never shared with third parties except as needed to run the AI processing described below.

Calendar and LMS data

If you connect a Canvas LMS account or subscribe to iCal feeds, we retrieve assignment and event data from those sources to populate your schedule.

Usage data

We collect standard server logs and usage telemetry (page views, feature interactions) to improve the service. This data is aggregated and not tied to individual email content.

Payment information

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or payment credentials. We receive a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To extract tasks, events, and deadlines from email and calendar data using AI processing
  • To display your family's schedule and task list
  • To send email digests if you opt in
  • To process subscription payments
  • To provide customer support
  • To improve product features (using anonymized, aggregated data only)
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, use your family's data for advertising, or share email content for any purpose other than operating the service.

3. AI Processing

Guidevoy uses Claude by Anthropic to analyze your emails and extract structured data (tasks, events, assignments). Email content sent for AI processing is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. We use Anthropic's API with zero-data-retention settings where available, meaning email content is not used to train AI models.

4. Information Sharing

We share your data only with the following categories of service providers, solely to operate the service:

ProviderPurpose
AnthropicAI email and task processing
ClerkUser authentication and session management
Supabase / PostgreSQLDatabase hosting
StripeSubscription billing
GoogleGmail API access (when you connect Gmail)
VercelApplication hosting and infrastructure

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users. We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.

5. Children's Privacy

Guidevoy is designed for parents and guardians to manage their children's activities. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All children's data entered into the app is provided by a parent or guardian and is governed by that parent or guardian's account. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information without your knowledge, contact us at privacy@guidevoy.com and we will promptly delete it.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and family information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data, email content, and children's information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records). You can export your data at any time from Settings → Privacy.

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access tokens (Gmail, Canvas) are stored encrypted. We follow security best practices including regular dependency updates, least-privilege access controls, and access logging. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction — update inaccurate information
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data
  • Portability — export your data (available in Settings)
  • Opt-out — disconnect Gmail or Canvas at any time to stop data collection from those sources

To exercise these rights, use the controls in the app or contact us at privacy@guidevoy.com.

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies strictly necessary for authentication. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not embed third-party ad trackers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
